Life is a race to catch a bus

What happened
Talent — the starting point
The USTC East Campus bus stop is just outside the northwest gate, very close by.
A goal — the motivation
Without a clear goal, catching the No. 166 bus, I would not have started running.
Effort — the process
I planned to buy a piece of clothing at Decathlon in the Intime shopping mall. After finishing my work at the East Campus 1958 café, I saw that the bus was only one minute and two stops away. Since my work was already done, I chose to start running immediately rather than wait twenty minutes for the next bus.
Luck — the variable
The light at the campus gate happened to be green, while the No. 166 bus was waiting at a red light at the intersection.
The central thought
If I had not run as hard as I could, that perfectly timed green light would have meant nothing to me. It would have turned red, just as it always did.
Luck is a shortcut for people already on their way, not a reserved seat for those watching from the sidelines.
Luck gives you an opportunity at a particular moment; effort makes sure that, at that moment, you are there.
